LIMA

Solo exhibition of sculptures and recordings of actions in the streets of her hometown.
80m2 Gallery. May, 2008.

In this exhibition Cristina played with fantasy of confronting the innocence of her young children with the challenges of living in a city like Lima: a chaotic, Latin-american mega city with nearly 9 million inhabitants. Hyperrealist sculptures of children were left to interact with pedestrians and merchants of some of the busiest areas of Lima. The exhibition presented at the gallery 80m2 of Lima consisted of video recordings of these actions in streets and avenues of the city.

In the words of Cristina: "There were four versions of a child, sometimes accompanied, sometimes alone, that faced La Horrible (a nickname for Lima). I cuddled and whipped them to covertly procure a sensation of homelessness necessary to survive (without me.)"
